Emotional Manifestation

As I’ve said so many times, stress is one of THE most harmful phenomena around. It’s the master of disguise and regularly robs us of pleasure without us even realising it.

When adrenalin drip feeds into our blood stream over a long period of time, it impairs our immune function, harms sleep quality, impedes digestion, tightens muscles, and if unresolved can damage our vital organs.

Sometimes the cause of stress can be manifested as a recurring injury or “weak spot” in the body. In the book by Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life, she explains that the location of the ailment can help us identify the root cause of this manifested emotional stress.

For example, an ongoing liver problem could denote repressed anger, frequent constipation may imply fear of letting go, a reduced mobility on one side of the neck can suggest a stubbornness or reluctance to look the other way or see the other side.

This is not to say that if you lift something heavy and twang your lower back, the injury location suggests that you are lacking support in your life, or if you hurt your foot by standing on an upside down plug, the foot problem implies you have fear of moving forward, but if an illness or pain is recurring or persistent, it might be worth considering that the cause may be emotional. These emotional afflictions often show up in the feet during a reflexology treatment, so if you are wanting to ignore your truth, unfortunately, your feet will fess up! *

Introspection can be a painful process (if you find it to be different, please tell me how!). Between you and I, getting real with yourself can be incredibly ugly and believe me, there is often a huge amount of denial that goes along with it. The important thing to remember with it is to be gentle with yourself. The aim isn’t to understand yourself overnight, but gradually you’ll learn your emotional habits and reactions to situations and hopefully be able to dodge those familiar pitfalls before you fall in.
